Twix Cupcake

I bought this cupcake at a cupcake store in Princeton, NJ.  It was a hard decision as they had many tasty flavors.  It came down to this and the Oreo one- even though the girl told me Oreo was one of the top 3 flavors, I decided that Oreo is overdone, so I went with Twix.  I was not disappointed.

Taste: It was a chocolate cupcake with delicious chocolate frosting.  Also on top were not necessarily pieces of Twix, but more likely the ingredients that make up a Twix (chocolate, caramel, cookie pieces).  Everything about it was very good.

Texture: Like any store-bought cupcake, there was more frosting than cake.  Because of this, I had to leave a little frosting at the end because it was overwhelming for me.  The cake was soft and the frosting was soft and light (buttercream?).  The pieces on top were a little sticky in my teeth but not too bad, even the caramel.

Recipe: Raspberry Lemon Creme Cupcakes

Ingredients:

Batter:  Flour, sugar, butter, oil, baking soda, vanilla, egg, buttermilk

Frosting: Cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon zest, red food coloring (+ raspberry preserves for the filling)

Taste: I really like raspberry, and the lemon adds a zesty flavor.  The frosting is actually just lemon flavored, and the filling is lemon-raspberry.  The cupcake part itself is pretty plain, but with the strong taste of the frosting and filling, it makes sense.  If anything, it’s a little bit too sweet for my taste.

Texture: This was really intense (really sweet/creamy/dry).  How can it be creamy and dry at the same time?  Well, the intense frosting and filling made me really thirsty for some milk or something.  I probably wouldn’t make them again because I prefer something lighter.
